WHAT'S NEW AT CTE

cte teamsBy now many of you have had your children coming home and telling you about the CTE teams. If not, here is the BIG DEAL that is going on. In mid August, our school had an assembly where the students found out which of our 3 teams their class belongs to. Since then, the contest has been on!  Each team represents a different artist (each year we pick one of the STEAM elements and we are currently on Art).

SEPTEMBER COUNSELOR'S CORNER - JANE STEINER

Hello Families!  We are off to a great start to this school year!  Over the past few weeks, I have visited every class in grades 3-6 to talk about my role as a school counselor and how I can support them.  I will be visiting the rest of the students over the next few weeks to do the same.  Our lesson included what domains I work with students in (social/emotional, career, academic).  I also shared that I visit classes to teach lessons and meet with some students in small groups or individually.

Classroom teachers also teach weekly lessons from our social-emotional learning curriculum called Second Step.  Second Step’s units cover skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, and problem solving.

Does your child need additional support to learn/practice social skills?  Denver Behavioral Consultants facilitate social skills groups in the Parker area. Click for more information

UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles Continue ....
Now that Labor Day is over, we buckle down and really start our labor here at school. By now all of our students know the routines and expectations and we dive deeply into content and get going on some serious learning. For Literacy, we start unit one of Benchmark, and for math our teachers continue pushing through the content from Ready Math. Also, if you haven't seen any of our "This is How We CTE" videos please check them out to understand everything about our wonderful school. They are all located on our school's website (CTE/OUR SCHOOL/PHOTO GALLERY/ THIS IS HOW WE CTE)
On the personal front, Labor Day was pretty uneventful. Things here at school have been so busy with a ton of late nights that really all I wanted to do was relax. Plus I didn't have my daughter over the weekend so I was able to just get some things done around the house. With Outdoor Ed, coming next week I know I'll have some good stories to share coming up.
Sorry this episode is so lame so stayed tuned for next weeks edition which hopefully will be way more exciting. See you next time when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
