   * I own my actions and make things right

   * I use manners

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL WELLNESS - NOELLE DUNKER

What’s Happening in Social Emotional Wellness?

K/1/2: This week will focus on how we might have mixed up emotions (multiple feelings at one time). We will practice how to recognize the individual feelings we experience within the mixed up emotions.

3/4/5/6: We will grasp a better understanding of our nervous system and the ways that our brains automatically respond to a dysregulated nervous system. We will also practice test-taking strategies related to our emotions.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...

Happy fourth quarter, we have finally made it to the home stretch. I know I sound like a broken record (can we even say that anymore since most people don't even know what a record is?) but this year has just flown by. Here at school, we are swimming in the logistic pool trying to get state testing figured out and getting our students in the right mindset. With every single space in our building taken up, we really had to scramble to find enough space to test everyone. Luckily we will not have to utilize any patio seating. Besides that, this week starts Chaparral's Wish Week. This is where we get together as a feeder to support the Make-A-Wish foundation to help raise money to grant wishes. Each year Chaparral adopts one student to support. During the week, we raise money and attend events to support this student. Then next Friday, we will get to attend the final assembly where the fundraising total is revealed. Trust me, it is one of the coolest experiences we have at school and I cannot confirm or deny that I get a bit emotional every year. I can't wait.

On the personal front, we may have found ourselves a house but as of this writing, there are a ton of steps we still need to take. (That, and I'll probably need to sell my left kidney as well as one of my lungs) If it all works out we will be able to move in by the beginning of May. The keyword in that sentence is "IF". Other than that, my daughter has been playing with the JV Golf Team at Legend HS. Well, I shouldn't say playing since she has only been practicing due to the numerous weather cancellations of tournaments. She has yet to play a single match, but still likes it. Hopefully, all the money we spent on playing allows her play in at least something. Anything really. We did go to Top Golf this past weekend and in between her stuffing her face with root beer and tortilla chips, I did notice she has gotten a lot better. I guess her practicing more than twice a year has helped her improve. Who knew?

That is it for this week's edition. Stay tuned next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
