All Wellness students: Please wear shoes that slip off and on easily for our stretching portion of Wellness.

Grades K/1/2:  We will practice how to express what we are feeling by paying attention to facial expressions, body language, and verbal clues. We will also practice using a calm space to help regulate our emotions.

Grades 3/4/5: This week will continue our focus on finding commonalities and connection with our classmates. We will also practice using a calm space to help regulate our emotions.

Grade 6: Sixth graders will be taking an Awe Walk - looking with fresh eyes what we walk by everyday.  We will also practice using a calm space to help regulate our emotions.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles Continue ....
It is so funny how things are cyclical and the same things seem to arise every year at various points. At the beginning of the year, we always have issues with bees and wasps, there is always some area in our building where the A/C isn't working (this year it is the main office), and we are always way above or way below our projected enrollment (this year we are below). Just once it would be an interesting experience to have all four of our A/C units be fully functional and not have one section of the school feel like the equator. It would be equally interesting if we just met our projected enrollment and not be scrambling around trying to figure out where our kids are coming from or where they all went. I guess I should say something about the bees but I wouldn't really want no bees because wouldn't that signal the start of our ecosystem collapsing? Maybe I just made that up but I'm pretty sure we need bees. Maybe the bees could just keep their stingers to themselves. I'll settle for that.
On the personal front, I have now officially driven with my daughter for a total of four hours, and have yet to be in a major accident or have a near-death experience. Our latest adventure took us out Buckley Road, which is the busiest road we have tackled so far. The next step will be Arapahoe Road, and then the big beast: Parker Road. I'm not sure my blood pressure is ready for those roads yet as Buckley was fairly stressful. A public service announcement for all of you out there on the road: when my daughter stops at a stop sign or a red light she typically takes close to 30 seconds to look in every direction before moving the vehicle. In addition, she does not respond well to honking. Just food for thought. Other than that, I think our staff and students are ready for a three-day weekend. We have seen quite a few tired students and staff members this week as everyone has been working so hard.
That is it for this week's episode. Stay tuned for next week's edition when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
