BE EPICER @ CTE

At Cherokee Trail we focus on six traits, teaching and fostering them in our classrooms and school-wide in order to create learners who are strong academically and socially. They are:

ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT
Read more on the EPICER page!
Monday, 8May, will be CTE's annual Service Day! Classrooms will participate in activities to help beautify our school inside and out: trash pickup, lunch table cleaning, sandpit fill, woodchip/rock tyding, and more. What a great opportunity for students to show all of the EPICER traits we have been learning about all year!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN WELLNESS - NOELLE DUNKER
Grades K/1/2: Our focus this week will be optimism. Learning to be optimistic involves developing skills necessary to view the world from a positive point of view. Children who are optimistic tend to have better mental health, higher motivation, and lower stress. Optimism can also build self-confidence and belief in a child’s personal ability.

Grades 3/4/5/6:

Our focus for this week will be physical wellness - healthy eating.  We will look at MyPlate guidelines from the USDA and plan out ways to improve our healthy habits. ChooseMyPlate.gov

Please click on the links attached for information on Mindful Mornings with Mrs. Dunker.  We still have a few spots left.  Thank you.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...
As I sit and write this, the monsoon season has hit Colorado. At the end of the day yesterday there sure was a lot of water coming out of the sky. Here at school, we are finishing up our iReady end-of-the-year diagnostic. So far we have seen really great growth in our students. It is so great to see that all of our hard work has paid off. We will all be happy to wrap up our testing cycle and finish the year strong with lots of learning and some fun activities sprinkled in as well.
On the home front, I had a first on Monday. As many of you know, I get up pretty early every morning to go to the gym. When I returned home after the gym Monday morning, both springs on my garage door broke essentially trapping me inside the garage. The worst part was. I was not strong enough to lift the door myself and get my car out. Made me a little sad that I couldn't even lift it despite working out nearly every single day. Once I realized I was trapped I spent the next two hours calling, texting, and emailing everybody and their mother in order to get my car out, get my garage door fixed, and let people know where the heck I was. Three hours later and $2000 lighter, I was on my way to school. Needless to say, the garage door works now.
That is it for this week's episode. Stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
