UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER
The Principal Chronicles continue ...
It is graduation day here in the Chaparral feeder and today is one of my favorite days of the entire year. I absolutely love being down on the field watching the seniors walk across the stage to graduate. It is even more special, now that I have been at CTE for 9 years, and I know all of the seniors who went to Cherokee Trail. Another aspect of graduation that I enjoy is the fact that the students run the entire show. There are only a few adults that speak during the entire event, the rest of the time it is the students, which is amazing. There are always students singing and/or performing and it truly is a wonderful day. Not only that, looks like we will be getting great weather today which makes a great day even better.
On the school side, we had our annual staff vs. 6th grade kickball game yesterday. Unfortunately, the students were defeated but it was a great game and our 6th grade students were really united as a group. They cheered for each other and celebrated all of their runs. Something new this year was the Parker Police Department came and participated as well. It was awesome to see them come out and have some fun with our staff and students.
On the home front, my daughter got her first car over the weekend. My parents bought a new car for themselves so I was able to purchase their old car (thank goodness for the family discount) for her. She doesn't turn 16 until July but now we can start to practice in her own car. The car is a larger SUV so she will have an opportunity to not only be safe but have another space where she can leave a bunch of her junk lying around. Over the next week, she and I are going to go over to the DMV and get all the paperwork done and get her license plates. Then the last step is to get her insurance. That is the step I am looking forward to the least. I may have to sell my kidney to keep her insured. Speaking of throwing money towards something, last week's hail storm nailed our house. Luckily our basement didn't flood and we didn't have too much damage. We lost a few window screens, but the brunt of the damage was to our hot tub. The cover over the hot tub now looks like the surface of the moon. Fingers crossed my insurance covers the replacement but we shall see. Not sure what I did to mother nature to deserve that but what can you say?
That is it for this week's episode, stay tuned to next week when the Principal Chronicles continue …
