WHAT'S NEW AT CTE
service dayMonday, 8May, was CTE's annual Service Day! Classrooms participated in activities to help beautify our school inside and out: trash pickup, lunch table cleaning, sandpit fill, woodchip/rock tyding, and more. What a great opportunity for students to show all of the EPICER traits we have been learning about all year!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN WELLNESS - NOELLE DUNKER
Grades K/1/2: Our focus this week will be perseverance. When we value perseverance, it motivates us to pursue our goals and overcome obstacles. We often try and fail, revise and try again to grow and learn.  This week, students will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of perseverance.

Grades 3/4/5/6: For the remainder of the school year, we will be exploring the benefits of nature and fresh air on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Please click on the links attached for information on Mindful Mornings with Mrs. Dunker.  We still have a few spots left.  Thank you.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...
As I write this it is Wednesday, mere hours before we are supposed to get another severe storm for this afternoon. This usually means a lightning dismissal or the students having to make a mad dash home in a torrential downpour. Hopefully, it is none of the above, but it does make me think back to a few years ago when we had a lightning dismissal on the last day of school. Can't say that was super fun for anyone involved. Here at school, we are doing our best to manage all of the many expectations to wrap up the year. It is just a busy time and I think I speak for everyone when I say we are running around all over the place. Between behavior, figuring out next year, and closing down this year it has been a very very busy month but then again, when is it not a busy month?
Despite the business, it is also one of my favorite times of the year. Next Friday we have our Field Day, and as a former PE teacher, this was a day that I both loved and hated. I loved it because our students had a chance to play all day and our community was able to come out and watch. I hated it because you never really knew what you were going to get as far as weather. You pretty much just rolled the dice and planned for as much as you could. I know Mrs. Whittingham has been working for months to pull this year's Field Day off, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is good.
On the home front, I have been asked several times if I have any plans for the summer. The short answer is no (actually that is the long answer as well). I am scheduled for a boat load of training this summer. The state is asking Principals to complete several different trainings in preparation for next year, so essentially that is how I'll be spending my summer. Outside of that, I am sure I will find some time to do some things with my daughter, but then again she turns 16 on July 7th so I am guessing after that my time with her will be fairly limited. I wish I had some good stories to share about all of our travel plans this summer but alas, my traveling will consist of working through tons of modules and spending time making friends with my laptop. I'll have to see if they have wifi by the pool so at least I can be outside.
That is it for this weeks edition, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
