NOVEMBER COUNSELOR'S CORNER - JANE STEINER

Hello families!

My role as a school counselor includes teaching students mindsets & behaviors related to career education.  I have begun visiting classrooms to teach career exploration activities.  Activities include learning about career cluster areas, career interest surveys, and various occupations.  It is never too early to begin discussing careers and goals.  As a parent, one way to help your child with career exploration is to simply share about your own career and choices you have made (successes and failures).  Your child will begin to understand that their interests and abilities should align with their intended career path.

I have also recently visited all 5th and 6th grade classes to discuss safety and tools they have available to ensure the safety of themselves and others.  We discussed the importance of safety at home and school. The students were provided information about Safe 2 Tell Colorado and how they can report a concern.  We also discussed the importance of having at least 3 adults they can go to if they have a concern or need help (trusted triangle).  Adults can also report concerns to Safe 2 Tell.  Please read additional information below.

Safe 2 Tell Colorado

Do you know how to report a concern that threatens you, your friends, your family or your community?  Safe 2 Tell Colorado is an anonymous reporting tool for parents and students.  There are 3 ways to make an anonymous report – via website, app, or phone call.

UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles Continue ....

As I write this, it is Wednesday morning after the election. Although it was a disappointing result for all of the educators in DCSD, I am still proud of our staff and students. Despite this setback, our staff still brings their best to school every single day. They still work as hard as they can to ensure each and every one of our students meet their potential. I cannot ask for a better group of professionals to work with every day. I am truly honored to be a part of this school. I love our school. I love our students and our community, and most of all I love and respect our school staff.

That is it for this week's edition, I'll see you next time when the Principal Chronicles continues...
