PSP NEWS

FROM THE SOCIAL OUTREACH COMMITTEE

Hello CTE community,

The holiday season is upon us! We would like to share some of our staff's favorite goodies as we enter this beautiful time of year. If you’re wondering what they love, check this document! We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and thank you for being the best community!

FROM THE LMC - KAREN NOTTINGHAM
What a wonderful time we had at our Wild About Books Fair! It was fun seeing our community come together through the various events. Our students rocked the Coin Challenge, with Kindergarten earning 1st place in donations! We loved seeing all the dads and family members at Donuts with Dudes and the Family Night Event. We are looking forward to seeing all the new books that will soon be available for checkout by our students!
The Book Fair could not have been possible without the many hours volunteered by the following families. A special thanks to the Schroeder and Kemp families for their work in creating an incredible jungle in our LMC - the kids love it so much we’re keeping it up for the year! Also, a big shout out to Mr. Miller and Mr. Bartuska for dressing up and reading books at our Family Night Event. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!

FROM SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING - MRS. DUNKER

What’s Happening in Social Emotional Wellness?
We will be learning about the value of spending time in nature.  Students will go on a walk around school and look at this world around them with “different eyes”.  Being in nature helps to regulate our nervous systems when we feel overwhelmed by strong emotions.

UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue....

Thanksgiving break is in the rearview mirror and, as crazy as it sounds, we are now in December. As always, this year is flying by. Currently our students and staff are working through our winter diagnostic as well as getting report cards ready for parents to view on December 18th. It is such a busy time of year around here. We always have so many things going on.

On the home front, I went to Mexico for Thanksgiving break. Since I did not have my daughter and my sister was out of the country, I figured why not leave the country as well. The first part of the week I spent time in an Airbnb in Playa del Carmen. It was so nice to completely check out. I swam in cenotes, visited Xel-Ha, and made lots of poor food choices. From there, I spent the second half of the week in Cancun. The water in Cancun was unreal and I spent nearly every moment of every day at the beach and continuing the tradition of poor food choices. It was a little strange to have Thanksgiving on a beach but who am I to complain?

The other rough thing that happened was the emergence of the new COVID variant. Since I did not check my email or watch any news during the week, I had no idea this was a thing until we had our flight canceled. In addition, we had our COVID tests delayed for four days until they did the proper testing. Luckily, when we arrived we asked for room insurance so all we had to pay was $49 for an extra night and didn't have to move rooms. Working with the airline was also fairly easy as we kept having to re-book our flight until we had our tests come back. Luckily all was negative and we ended up being able to extend our break by an extra day. It was not very fun however to roll into work after a day of travel and getting in late. I was riding the struggle bus all day on Tuesday.

That is it for this week. Stay tuned next week when the Principal Chronicles continues..
