FROM STUCO - MADISON LEVINE
Hello CTE Community!
Student Council is holding a fundraiser to help the schools impacted by the Marshall Fire. Our fundraiser will be held next week, January 18-21. StuCo hopes to donate $1,000 to help these schools in need of rebuilding! These schools are overwhelmed with supplies at the moment so we ask that only money donations be made (cash or checks payable to "CTE" please), your student can turn these donations into their classroom teacher next week. We have the best community out there and we are confident we can reach our goal!

Thank you for all of your support for our fellow CO communities!

What’s Happening in Social Emotional Wellness?

“Seeing the good in others” will be the message we will practice this week.  Our activity will be centered around finding goodness in our class family members.  Students will then be asked to see the good in others outside of the classroom - at school and in the community.

EPICER @ CTE THIS WEEK

Each month we focus more closely on one trait - this month's EPICER trait is: INTEGRITY.

   * I am honest

   * I show empathy to those around me

   * I encourage and support others to do their best

   * I do what is right even when no one is watching and it is not the popular thing to do

Social Media

Social media is at the forefront of many students’ interests and activities outside of school.  While there can be positive takeaways, it can be challenging for youth to navigate.  Some data reports that too much social media can be detrimental to their mental health.  Keeping the lines of communication open and having a plan to keep up with current apps and setting limits can be helpful. Please take time to look at the two linked articles.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue....

Whoever said that being agile is the new normal was definitely correct for 2022. I have started to dread looking at my phone when I get up at 4:30 am. I have been getting at least 3-4 overnight texts/emails from people who will be out for the upcoming day. It's been some serious staffing gymnastics every day but, (knock on wood), we have been pretty lucky in being able to fill positions and not impact our school very much. Thank goodness we have a staff so willing to jump in and support one another. They make last-minute plans, take extra kids, and overall just do whatever it takes to support our students. They make me feel proud and lucky all at the same time. Hopefully, we have reached the peak of all of this and will begin to wind down by the end of January. As always, it should be interesting.

On the personal side, my daughter and I have been spending a large amount of time looking at houses so we can move out of our apartment in February. It's been a long year but we will be very happy to get out of there. What we didn't realize is how much more houses cost now than they did last year. Not only that, there aren't really a ton of people selling so the few houses that are available go super quickly. We put an offer in on a house and we're giving the seller above the asking price only to be beat out by someone giving 100K over the asking price - and cash no less. Can't compete with that so, as the Seinfeld episode goes, "No soup for you!!". So come late February, if you see a tent on the top of the school, that will be me camping out until we can find a place to live. Then again, who knows, maybe something will work out.

That is it for this week's episode. Stay healthy everyone and we will see you next time when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
