EPICER @ CTE THIS WEEK

Each month we focus more closely on one trait - this month's EPICER trait is: RESPECT.

   * I listen carefully to adults and students and do not interrupt

   * I show empathy when interacting with others

   * I accept feedback and respond in a positive way

   * I own my actions and make things right

   * I use manners

MARCH COUNSELOR'S CORNER - JANE STEINER

Hello Families!

I have been enjoying teaching various guidance lessons throughout the different grade levels. In the Kindergarten classes, we are finishing up the last few letters of our Alphabreaths book. We have learned a breath associated with every letter of the alphabet. This is a great tool your child can use when they need to manage their emotions. In 4th grade, we are implementing lessons from the bully prevention unit from our SEL curriculum - Second Step. At the end of each lesson, parents are emailed a follow up activity they can use to reinforce the concepts that were taught.  I plan to continue teaching the bully prevention unit through the rest of the grade levels over the next few months.

UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...
As I write this, it is the Friday before Spring break and we have officially made it through conferences and 3/4th of the school year. It is hard to believe that we are about to enter the fourth quarter of the school year. I think I speak for all of the staff and students when I say we are ALL happy to have next week off. We all need a break to recharge our batteries.

On the home front, I am off to Seattle this afternoon. My daughter has it in her head that she wants to go to college in a place that rains a lot. She hasn't ever been to a place where it rains a lot so we are going to head there, just for the weekend. I have some family in Washington so it'll be a good chance to catch up and spend some time in the city. Other than that, I'll be essentially just looking to find someplace to live permanently that isn't a hundred thousand dollars overpriced but I don't think those houses exist anymore. After Spring Break, I am sure I'll have some good stories to tell.

Until then, stay tuned for future episodes when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
