FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ... Here we are the last quarter of the longest school year in the history of school years. In some ways, the year has gone by quickly and in others, it seems as though this year will never end. The majority of our staff members are vaccinated and we had two staff members return from leave and for the first time all year; we are fully staffed. It is crazy to think that way but it feels so good to finally have everyone back and working hard.

Our next big task as a school is to try and figure out the quagmire that is CMAS testing. As I write this, it is Wednesday at noon and I still don't have a definitive answer on what exactly we are expected to do for CMAS and we are supposed to start testing next week. It's crazy to think about but I guess it's like everything else this year. Over plan and then expect everything to change.

On the personal side, Spring break was a little rough for the Miller household. We had to re-home our dog Norman which was one of the top 5 worst things I have ever done. Poor Norman has really been struggling since we moved out of our house and into an apartment. With no yard and without another dog to play with all day he was having a really hard time. I tried just about everything I could think of to get him to settle in from anti-anxiety pills to kennel training to running miles and miles with him. Nothing helped. Any time I left the apartment he would freak out even if it were only for a few minutes. I ended up getting fined by my apartment complex (twice) for him barking. Luckily we found a really nice family from Castle Rock who has two dogs and wanted a third. They were wonderful and Norman really loved them so last Saturday we said goodbye to Norman. I'm actually getting a bit emotional just typing this out. I know in my heart it is what is best for him and that he is happy it's just really hard. Like I said, it was a rough spring break. All I need now is a giant state-mandated test with vague expectations to make all my sorrow go away. Oh, wait.....

That is it for this edition of the Principal Chronicles. Hopefully, I'll be back next week with a really funny story or a page full of witty anecdotes. Well, see you next time when the Principal Chronicles continues.
