MINDFUL MORNINGS
 - NOELLE DUNKER

Mindful Mornings with Mrs. Dunker will be starting next week.  Please see the information below to learn more about how your 3rd - 6th grade child can get involved.
What is mindfulness? Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way:  on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. This kind of attention nurtures greater awareness, clarity, and acceptance of present-moment reality.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn How can mindfulness help your child?  Mindfulness helps us to better understand our feelings and emotions.  With better understanding, we are able to respond to our feelings and emotions in ways that are healthy.  Mindfulness helps students to be more focused on and attentive to their learning. Mindfulness also improves executive functioning, which carries over into all aspects of life. Join Mrs. Dunker on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to learn how to be more mindful in your life.  It's a wonderful, peaceful way to start your school day. Mindful Mornings is open to students in grades 3rd - 6th.  See below for information about how to sign up and be part of this joyful journey into mindfulness. You can sign up at Mindful Mornings Sign-up

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER The Principal Chronicles continue ... It's mid-September and that means that I am at the tail end of three consecutive weeks of birthdays. The first week was my oldest daughter's birthday, followed by my dad's birthday, with my significant other's birthday this Sunday. So for this weekend, she wants to do a cookie decorating party and then hit an arcade on Saturday. It's going to be like we are going through the way back machine to the 80's this weekend and I am pretty excited. For her birthday, I purchased Renee some food off of a website called goldbelly. Essentially the purpose of the website is to connect people with famous restaurants around the US (and some other parts of the world). For example, you can get deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's in Chicago, or a Philly Cheesesteak from Geno's in Philly. Pretty cool. For Renee, she loves lobster rolls so I got her a package of two lobster rolls from McLoon's in Maine. I was a little skeptical on how it would be but I have to tell you, it was unreal. The food was fresh and even included directions on how to make it. I also bought her some macaroons from France but those don't come until tomorrow so I can't comment on that. If you ever wanted to splurge on some iconic food, I would definitely recommend using goldbelly. Just make sure what you are ordering has free shipping because the shipping cost was pretty high. Well that is it for this week's nonsense. Stay tuned for next week when I just might ramble on something interesting or even school related. See you next time when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
