FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles Continue ... So for some strange and unknown reason, I have decided to take my family skiing this weekend for my birthday. As many of my loyal readers know, I do not enjoy my birthday (at all) and I go to great lengths to avoid the embarrassment of being singled out with so much attention. I do however enjoy celebrating Ground Hog's Day (besides the fact that it is awesome) because it happens to land on my birthday every single year.

(Sorry, I went on a bit of a bird walk there) My youngest is in 5th grade this year and can ski for free, plus she has never been skiing so I thought this would be a great idea. Of course, had I truly thought through this plan I most likely would not have chosen to do it, but what can you do? The first thing I failed to realize when planning this trip, is that ski lift tickets cost as much as the Gross National Product of three small nations. It's unreal! Secondly, she has never skied before and I am not a strong enough person physically to endure the pain of trying to teach her myself so we will get her a lesson. Again, does it really cost over 100 dollars for someone to hang with my daughter for half a day? Well then again that might be worth it when they realize my daughter will most likely be laying in the snow staring up at the sky for 90% of the lesson. Lastly, the genius in me decided it would be fun to stay the night up there as well. Luckily I still have both of my kidneys. One of which I will likely have to sell to make sure I have enough money to pay for our room.

Essentially, I think that I will be spending a massive amount of money for the following things to happen: 1. Everyone will be cold and freezing and hate skiing within 15 minutes of actually getting on the hill, 2. The entire family will want to go back and play in the pool for the remainder of the trip, 3. I will end up spending a ton of money and drive for a long way only to spend the weekend in a pool, 4. I will realize, post skiing weekend, that I could have simply burned all of that money and taken the family to our local pool and achieved the same outcome for the weekend.
