My journey as a teacher began back in 2007 when I taught Preschool for 5 years in both Pennsylvania and Illinois. After moving to Colorado I decided I wanted to change my career path. I began working at Cherokee Trail as an educational assistant for students with moderate special needs back in October 2012. While working at CTE as an educational assistant, I went back to college to finally finish up my teaching degree that I had started back in Pittsburgh. This will be my 8th school year as a member of the Cherokee Trail community. Since becoming a classroom teacher at CTE, I have taught 2nd grade and this will be my fourth year of teaching 3rd grade.
Let me tell you a little about myself outside of the classroom. I was born and raised near the lovely three rivers city of Pittsburgh, PA. Our family moved to Colorado in 2012 after living in Illinois for one year. We love the sunshine, beauty, and variety of outdoor opportunities provided in Colorado and we also have some family here. My husband Chris and I will celebrate 23 years of marriage this October. We have three wonderful children together. Our daughter Alanna graduated from Ponderosa High School in 2017 and is working at a veterinarian office. Our son Donovan graduated in 2019 from PHS and is currently serving in United States Air Force as an aerospace propulsion technician in North Carolina. Our youngest son Collin will be a junior at PHS this year. Our family also includes two furry members. We have a sweet little rescued Pit Bull mix named Angel and a crazy fluffy gray cat named Chloe.
As both an educator and parent I realize how important communication can be in the classroom. I encourage you to please reach out to me if you should ever have any concerns or questions. I check my email daily and I am also willing to schedule a time to talk via phone as well. My email address is [email protected]. This school year is going to be amazing and I’m eager to get to know each and every student in this classroom. I welcome all of you to volunteer in our classroom and would greatly appreciate all the parent support I can get. We are in this together!
With much much excitement,
Denise Reynolds
