My name is Joey Bartuska and I have the privilege of being your 4th grade teacher. I am so excited to begin my 9th school year and meet all of my students at Back to school night on Friday August 4th from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
This is my 5th year at CTE and I can't imagine teaching anywhere else. I have taught 6th, 5th, 2nd and 1st grades including one year in Newport Beach, California. I completed my student teaching in a 4th grade classroom in California as well as a 1st grade classroom at a title 1 school. I am originally from Aurora, Colorado and have lived in Seattle, WA, Brunswick, GA, and Newport Beach, CA.
I also have a background in law enforcement. I worked as a Corrections Officer for the Colorado Dept. of Corrections from 2006 – 2008 serving on the Safety Board, cell extraction team, and the Emergency Response Team. I then accepted a federal law enforcement position with Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection in Seattle, Washington. Although I loved law enforcement, a career in teaching was calling me. I had the opportunity to move to California in 2012 to pursue my new career path in education. In February 2014, I married my girlfriend of five years and on August 12, 2015 we had our first baby boy. Wanting to be around family we decided to pack up and say goodbye to the beach. We now live in Parker where we had our second baby boy in December of 2017 and our 3rd (and most definitely last) baby July 26, 2022.
In my free time I love to spend all of my time on the water. Whether I’m surfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, or barefooting, you can always find me near a body of water. I look forward to meeting and learning from each of your children as the school year progresses.
