The Principal Chronicles continue ... As I sit and write this, it is 7:53 PM, the girls are chasing the dog around the house with one of them on crutches for reasons unbeknownst to me, and Renee is watching some video on her phone while the TV is blasting The Voice. I'm not entirely sure why everything in this house has to be at a very high volume but apparently, it does. Typically at this time, I am trying to get everything organized and ready for tomorrow since I will be up by 4:20 AM in order to make it to the gym and back again before I need to make the 45-minute trek into school. This night, however, the day has been so busy that I am still trying to wrap up the school day.

As a building Principal, I wear many many hats. Sometimes I wear the discipline hat and other times I wear the counselor hat. I have a leader hat and a follower hat, a custodial hat and an advertising hat, and many times I wear all of the hats I have at the same time. It's all part of being a building Principal. It is a 24/7 crazy job but I do truly love it (most of the time) and most of all I am proud to be a member of the Cherokee Trail Elementary family and a proud member of the Chaparral family.

I guess it's time to call it a night. The dog has stolen a sock and is running around outside while the girls chase him and The Voice has morphed into some kids' cooking show but strangely enough, the video on the phone is still playing with no one watching. I'm off to bed (plausible deniability in case our neighbors call the police because nine and eleven-year-old hooligans are attempting to retrieve said sock by screaming hysterically).

Until next time (unless I am physically detained) when the Principal Chronicles continues...

We have a student who is sponsoring a fundraiser. Instead of birthday gifts for herself, she is collecting school supplies for Children's Hospital. Please see the attached flyer.

Mark your calendars now! Parent/Teacher Conferences are the week of March 13, with our late nights being March 14 and 16 (info about signing up below).

For StuCo's next service project, we will be partnering with Chaparral High School's Student Government for their Wish Week (read the Community Letter). @ CTE:

  • Penny Wars from February 27-March 3 - Remember pennies and bills are positive and silver is negative. So, you'll want to put pennies in your grade level tub and silver in another grade level's tub. The grade who collects the most points (+ for pennies/bills and - for silver) will win a movie and popcorn party!
  • Spirit Week from March 6-10. All donations will go directly to Chap's Wish Week.

@ Chap:

  • Wish Week 3-10Mar17 - all info flyer
  • Wish Week Festival 4Mar17- flyer
  • Wish Week 5K 4Mar17 - flyer
