DECEMBER

The Gift of Gratitude
Do you ever wonder if your children are truly grateful for what they have and for what is done for them?  Practicing gratitude is something that people become better at with practice. By practicing gratitude, you can actually train your brain to notice positive life aspects. This mindset increases mental resilience, even in the worst of times.
Check out this article to learn more about the health benefits from practicing gratitude and family activities that support it.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continues...

Things sure are quiet around here now that we are 100% remote. It is extremely strange to walk the halls and only hear the voices of our teachers talking to their computers. Never in my 20 year career have I been a part of something like this. I have to say, our staff has worked their absolute tails off to try and make things better than last spring. It is pretty cool to see them turn their classrooms into little virtual studios. It has also been a lot of fun to drop in on some of the classroom sessions to see the kids. Although the circumstances aren't ideal, our teachers are doing the best with what they were given, that is for sure.

On the home front, Thanksgiving was pretty low key this year. With so many restrictions in place and with COVID cases going through the roof we didn't have anyone over but instead just ate with our family. As per our tradition, everyone in our family had to contribute to the meal. This is always interesting to see what my two girls come up with. Usually I try to cook something but I decided to go a different route this time; I went on the website GoldBelly.com and ordered BBQ from Kansas City and got some biscuits from South Carolina (I may or may not have binged watched American BBQ on Netflix over break). The BBQ and the biscuits were awesome, if I do say so myself. My oldest made homemade pasta, she didn't like it but I thought it was pretty good. She said it was too thick but I still thought it was good. My youngest made this apple cider spice cake with cranberry filling. It was pretty good but she was upset because she didn't level it out so it was a bit lopsided. I don't think anybody cared because who gets upset at cake?

Other than that, Norman is growing taller and Larry I think is growing wider. Never a dull moment in our house that is for sure. That is it for this week, I need to run and jump into another online meeting (story of my new life). Stay tuned next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
