PSP NEWS Yearbook Orders: It's time to order a yearbook if you haven't already! Fill out the yearbook order form and send in payment by March 6th. If you believe you ordered a yearbook at the beginning of the year but you aren't sure, send us an e-mail with your name and your student's name and we can check. Yearbooks will be delivered in May.

MARCH COUNSELOR'S CORNER - JANE STEINER
I am looking forward to beginning a series of lessons on bullying in 3rd grade classes this month. The lessons will focus on providing information about bullying and role-playing responses to various scenarios. I also plan on including literature to reinforce situations through story characters.
In 6th grade, we are in our final Second Step unit “Serious Peer Conflicts”. Our lessons are focused on understanding different perspectives, handling peer conflict, making amends, and gratitude. Media Tips for Parents:

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER The Principal Chronicles continue ... Normally this time of year I like to share stories from the Apple Awards. This year the Apple Award winners were Mrs. Whittingham and Mrs. O. Both have been at CTE forever and both are extremely deserving of the honor. They were both very excited to attend the party and even were able to bring along their families. As for me, I typically really like going to the event as it is a great opportunity to recognize people from around the district. Plus it was at the Vehicle Vault in Parker which is a pretty cool location. So Saturday came along, and since my significant other is out of town, it was up to me to pick up my oldest from tennis practice and bring her to her Dad's house. My oldest has decided to try out for the Green Mountain High School tennis team so she has been doing a tennis camp in this gigantic indoor bubble by downtown Littleton. The camp is from 5:00 - 7:00 which made it a bit difficult to get to Parker on time since the Apple Awards also started at 7:00. So my plan was to pick my oldest up, fly over to her Dad's house (which is by Green Mountain), then fly down to Parker in time to see the announcements of the awards. So there I was at 7:00, my oldest was really good about getting out on time and into the car and away we went. I dropped her off precisely at 7:23 and figured I could make it to Parker by 8:15 depending on construction on C-470. Luckily her Dad doesn't live too far from the highway. Of course, I was trying to make up some time so I was going Mach 1 on the highway trying to get to Parker. So fast in fact that I failed to see the State Patrol officer sitting on the side of the road just past University Blvd. What I did notice, however, was when he flipped on his lights to pull me over. Super. So there I was, pulled over on the highway with all of his spotlights on me. I was officially going 82 in a 55. The officer was very nice and politely told me that traveling at that rate of speed wasn't safe and how many people I was endangering by traveling so fast and nothing is that important to get to. Of course, he was exactly right and I felt completely stupid and embarrassed. So much so, that once he pulled away it was almost nine and I was in no mood to go to a party. So with my tail between my legs and my wallet about to be $150 lighter, I drove back home and went to bed. I figured the day was pretty rough and I just wanted to get it over. The good news was that both Mrs. O and Mrs. Whittingham had a wonderful time which made my odyssey not so bad. Well, that is it for this week, maybe next week I'll learn my lesson. Outside Agencies

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records at this link ( Douglas County School District Transcripts and Records Requests ).
