FROM THE AP - ROBIN HUNT Thanks to all those families who participated in National Walk to School Day! It was a huge success with about half of our students participating. Safety First This past Wednesday we practiced our Lockdown procedures. It’s unfortunate that we need these precautions, but it’s important that our community knows that we have a plan in case we have an unsafe situation within the building. Students and staff did an excellent job during the drill. We focused on our safety plan rather than all the “what if” scenarios. The expectations during a Lockdown are: doors locked, lights out, everyone out of sight. Here is more information if you are interested. Lost and Found Lost and Found will be out in the front lobby all of next week. We will be donating anything left after Friday, October 5th at 4pm, to charity. Please come look through all the lost items so many might be found! Academic Excellence Last Friday, September 21st, while your students were home for the day, our teachers were hard at work learning ways to teach and assess writing. Teachers learned the strategies and structures related to teaching expository writing using our writing curriculum, Write From the Beginning and Beyond. They also looked over writing samples and our assessment rubric to ensure they were all using the same grading practices. It was a wonderful day of learning and our teachers started using the information they learned on Monday. It was a great day and we thank you for any sacrifices you made to make it happen! Spirit Week Spirit Week was a great success. We raised funds to support families in need within our Cherokee Trail community. Thanks for your donations! Student Council StuCo is selling candy bars to raise money for the charity work they will be doing this week. World’s Finest Chocolate candy bars are $1.00. Please consider purchasing one to support Student Council.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER
The Principal Chronicles return ... Seems like we have fundraiser information coming out of our ears these days. We just finished our annual Fun Run at CTE and our kids were pretty excited to show me how many laps they had completed. They all did such a good job and I was extremely proud of them. If you are still looking to donate, we are still taking donations for a few more days. As of now, we need to purchase some iPads for our K-1 students. We had to return a bunch of our K-1 iPads recently because they were so old they would no longer connect to our District servers and our youngest students do so much better with touchscreens than they do with Chromebooks. Anything helps, and please know how much we appreciate the support. On the home front, there isn't much going on. I am just now catching up on the sleep I lost at Outdoor Ed. It is amazing now that I am super old, how long it takes my body to recover from lack of sleep. As my oldest would say, "I am no spring chicken anymore." That is it for this week, stay tuned for next week when I may or may not have some witty insight into what is happening at CTE. Until next time when the Principal Chronicles continues....
