The Principal Chronicles continue ... I am finally back. After spending the last 10 days in both Florida and Philadelphia with Major League Soccer, I am very glad to be back at school. Everyone keeps saying "it must have been nice to be in Florida" but truly it was FREEZING every day. It was actually warmer here in Colorado the entire time I was in Florida. On top of that, the hotel we were staying in didn't have any heat (because it is Florida) so it was extra special cold inside as well as outside. Silly me only brought one pair of jeans and one heavy sweatshirt which I ended up wearing every single day because it was so cold. (Thank goodness for hotel laundry.)
From Florida, I went to the MLS Draft in Philadelphia. Talk about some Eagles fans, holy cow. I have never seen so many people excited about an NFL team. I thought Broncos fans were crazy but they have nothing on Eagles fans. They were literally chanting about the Eagles in the streets pretty much the entire time I was there. Not sure if any of the "chanters" had actual jobs, unless of course you count yelling "let's go Eagles" at various points in the day, a job.
Besides the strange yelling about the Eagles, I actually really like Philadelphia. It is a very old and historic city. One of the best things about being downtown is the Reading Terminal. It is my favorite place to make poor food choices. It is basically one big giant room with about 50 different restaurants. Anything you could possibly want is in there. The cultural diversity is truly wonderful as is the ability to eat several different types of food at the same place. This is terrible to admit, since I am pretty strict on my diet, but as soon as I checked into my room I went straight to the terminal and had a Philly Cheesesteak (when in Philly, eat as the Philadelphians do) and then walked over one aisle and had a Po'boy sandwich from a guy who I couldn't understand at all because his Cajun accent was so think. My stomach was a wreck but I didn't care. It tasted so good. I cannot confirm or deny but I may have also eaten a giant homemade ice cream sundae. Maybe.

Candygrams for Sale! - Student Council will be selling Valentine Candygrams for $1 - your handwritten note and a full-sized candybar will be delivered to your child's classroom on Valentine's Day. Candygrams can be purchased:
* 26jan18: at the School Dance - 6-8pm
* 29jan-13feb18: every day before (8:15-8:35am) and after (3:30-3:50pm) school
Our first Safety Committee Meeting is scheduled for January 31 at 3:45 pm.

The new CTE website is here!! Starting Friday morning, January 26th, when you link to the usual address (cte.dcsdk12.org) you will be automatically redirected to our new, bright, easy to navigate website! We have been working very hard to make all the improvements you've been asking for.
Some highlights of the new site:

PSP NEWS
All School Dance: Friday, January 26th, is the All School Dance at CTE from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This is always a good time for our community! Students must attend the dance with an adult and this dance is for current CTE students only. Admission to the dance is free and we will offer concessions for purchase. A flyer with more information will go home next week. We are in need of volunteers to help with various tasks that night and middle school & high school students are welcome to help! Click on the link to see the volunteer opportunities. Click here if you are able to help with supplies for the dance.
Box Tops: It's Box Tops Competition time! Starting Monday, January 29th, send in your Box Tops. Make sure you put them in a baggie marked with your teacher's name. Box Tops will be counted at the end of every Friday and the winner will be announced the following week. For more information on the prizes see the flyer. Thank you for supporting our school!
Monthly Meetings: We held our our monthly PSP Meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 27th at 2:15pm. If you are unable to attend the meetings and would like to know what was discussed, check out the minutes tab on our site. Let us know if you have any questions!

Each year our school participates in the life saving event of Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart in alliance with the American Heart Association. We are in need of parent volunteers to help make the event a success. Please click here to to volunteer.
Event Date: Thursday, February 15th during specials times.
Register online to participate in this year's 2018 Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart event. Students can raise money online to help the cause and earn frn prizes. Click HERE to register a student for the event.
