PSP NEWS
Butter Braids:
Order forms came home this week and are due Nov. 2nd. Butter Braids will be delivered Thursday, Nov. 15th. This is merely a service we provide at the request of our families. If you have any questions, please contact CTE PSP.
Trunk-or-Treat:
Join us for the second annual CTE Trunk-or-Treat on Friday, October 26th from 4:30pm - 6:00pm. We will have games in the gym, a taco truck, and trunks for the kids to get treats! Save the date! If you'd like to sponsor a trunk, please contact Christina Clements.
Donuts with Dads: Save the date for the annual Donuts with Dads, Friday, Nov. 9th at 8:00am. This is always a huge event that is paired with the Book Fair! There will be donuts, milk, and an opportunity to win prizes. We could use some helping hands from moms or high school students that morning. Please click here if you are able to help.

On October 27th, DECA will be hosting its annual Sweet Street. Sweet Street is an event held at Chaparral High School in which kids can safely trick-or-treat indoors. See the flyer for more information about this fun event.

Our Enchanted Forest Book Fair arrives
November 9th - 16th!
We open with Donuts & Dads!
The magic begins during Donuts with Dad on Friday 11/9: shop early at the fair beginning at 7:30 am. Our Enchanted Green Screen will be open for photos; $1 donation goes to the All For Books charity. We have all the books to make holiday wish lists come true!
Let Your Imagination Grow at our late night Family Glow Evening on Tuesday, November 13th at 7 pm. We'll be getting our glow on with face painting and accessories under the blacklights! Silver Claw the Elder (Mr. Miller) and Lightening the Powerful (Mrs. Hunt) will be weaving a tale by the glow of sparkling lights. Don't lack imagination - be sure to donate $1 for All For Books charity and put on your fier
cest or sparkliest fairy tale attire - dragons, knights, wizards and unicorns, oh, my! We're open until 8:30 pm this evening!
We will be holding a Coin Challenge for the All For Books charity the week before the Fair, 11/5-11/9. Each day we will award points to the Team that collects the highest total for that day. The class that collects the highest overall total will receive a class reward.

FROM THE AP - ROBIN HUNT
Soft Start to School
Cherokee Trail has chosen to have a soft start to our school day. Our doors open to students at 8:30am, the first bell, letting us know that school is starting, is at 8:35, and the tardy bell rings at 8:40am. Please remember, there is no playground supervision on the playground. If students are dropped off in the morning, they are encouraged to walk to the appropriate door to enter the building. Only students who come to school after 8:30 am should enter through the front door. Thanks for helping us keep our students safe!
Halloween Parties Are Coming!
We are excited to celebrate Fall with our students and community. Parties for kindergarten through fourth grade will be during the first hour of the day. Grades 5 and 6 will have their parties at the end of the day. If your child’s party is in the morning and they want to dress for the party, please send them to school dressed in their costume and with a change of clothes to wear the remainder of the day. If your child’s party is scheduled for the end of the day and they want to dress up, please send their costume with them to school. As always, NO WEAPONS or BLOOD are permitted. Please connect with your student’s teacher if you have questions.
Multicultural Night Was a Hit!
Thanks to all the families who participated. The food was incredible and the activities were lots of fun. Mrs. Weyhrich and the other feeder ESL teachers did a wonderful job!
No School on November 6th
Remember we have no school for students on November 6th, Election Day. Many parents wonder why students have this day off. One of the reasons is somewhat historic. In the past, schools were polling places for elections. This would bring a lot of “strangers” in the building and could potentially compromise the safety of students. Teachers will be working hard on that day. We will be looking at our iReady data and using the data to plan instruction which will meet the individual needs of students.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER
The Principal Chronicles continue ... It's that time of year again, Halloween!!! I was just having the conversation with my daughter this morning about Halloween decorations. We were in the car on the way to her middle school and we were looking at all of the houses that had Halloween decorations. We both wondered when that became a thing? Was there a point in time where houses just started decorating for Halloween? Was it just some, random Thursday? We had no idea but it's kind of a cool thing and it is always interesting what people can come up with.
Our neighbor up the street goes all out every single year. In fact, he goes all out for Halloween and for Christmas. He has that house which cars drive by almost non-stop during the holiday season. This year for Halloween, he has a huge pumpkin-headed guy and lots of ghouls and such. Both my girls are scared to walk the dog by his house after dark (which is funny because they walk the dog by his house constantly during Christmas).
Not sure what our costume situation is going to be like this year. Both of our girls are at their other houses up until the day before Halloween so their costumes will be a surprise for us. Should be interesting I am sure.
Don't forget to come and see all of our students costumes either at our Trunk or Treat TONIGHT, Friday, October 26th from 4:30 - 6:00 PM or at our school's Halloween celebration during the first hour of the day on Wednesday, October 31st. Hope to see you all then.
