   * I show empathy when interacting with others

   * I accept feedback and respond in a positive way

   * I own my actions and make things right

   * I use manners

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL WELLNESS - NOELLE DUNKER

What’s Happening in Social Emotional Wellness?

K/1/2: We will continue with our focus on how to be a good friend.  Empathy will be the lens we use this week to become a better friend.

3/4/5/6: We will grasp a better understanding of our nervous system and the ways that our brains automatically respond to a dysregulated nervous system.

MARCH COUNSELOR'S CORNER - JANE STEINER

Hello Families!

I have been enjoying teaching various guidance lessons throughout the different grade levels. In the Kindergarten classes, we are finishing up the last few letters of our Alphabreaths book. We have learned a breath associated with every letter of the alphabet. This is a great tool your child can use when they need to manage their emotions. In 4th grade, we are implementing lessons from the bully prevention unit from our SEL curriculum - Second Step. At the end of each lesson, parents are emailed a follow up activity they can use to reinforce the concepts that were taught.  I plan to continue teaching the bully prevention unit through the rest of the grade levels over the next few months.

UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ... And just like that, we are in the fourth quarter of the school year. It seems like only yesterday when we were starting the year off. As always the year just flies by. Now that Spring break is over we are moving into our state testing season. Although this is a huge undertaking we are excited to see how much our students have grown as this is the first time the students will be fully assessed by the state in two years. Other than that, we are trying to get all of the things done that need to be done before the end of the year. So basically, we hit the fast forward button from now until the end of the year. It won't be too long before summer is here.

On the personal side, spring break went pretty well. My daughter and I went to Seattle for a few days. Although we anticipated lots of rain, we received zero moisture while we were there. In addition, we also found out that basically all of downtown Seattle closes at 6 PM. This was especially problematic considering we arrived in Seattle after 6 and ended up having to eat at a grocery store. Once we figured that out, we decided to eat our way through each day so we wouldn't be hungry after 6. Overall it was a pretty fun trip, we did all of the tourist things and I wish we had some good stories but since we were there for roughly 48 hours I don't have too many. Hopefully next week, I'll have some more interesting things to talk about.

That is it for this week's edition, stay tuned to next week when the Principal Chronicles continues.
