UPCOMING CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ... Seems like I say this every week but where the heck is the summer weather? As I write this on Wednesday morning, it is cold, rainy, and decidedly not sunny. At some point, there has to be a full week of nice weather. Has to be. Of course, fast forward to August and I'll be whining about how hot it is and I can't wait for cooler weather. Yep, First World problems.

Things at school have been going great; our teachers have been getting their end-of-year data back from iReady and so far it shows that all of their hard work has been paying off. The students are making incredible growth and we are getting them back to where they need to be post-pandemic. Makes me so happy to see, I feel like a proud papa.

On the home front, my daughter had, not one, but two friends over last weekend, and my ears may not ever recover. Who knew three tiny people could make so much noise. The evening started to by me picking them all up after school on Friday. Of course, we immediately went to Dutch Bros and Crumbl Cookie because that is just what you do at a sleepover. From there, we got some pizza, and luckily for me, their big activity for the evening was walking to the Walmart across the street from my apartment to get polaroid film. Not sure when the '80's arrived for polaroid pictures, but I digress. Once they got back from their adventure they huddled in my daughter's room and FaceTimed and made TikToks until the wee hours of the morning. I am shocked we didn't get a noise complaint.

When they got up in the morning (by morning I mean 10:30) they were "starving" - not mentioning that they raided the fridge at least four times in the night and I had the trash and mess as evidence. So I busted out some chocolate chip pancakes and they decided they "needed" to go shopping at Southlands and also hit Plato's closet. So after they ate we went at played some pool, foosball, and shuffleboard in our clubhouse. They also got a "workout" in the gym which looked a lot like them messing around. Finally, we hit Southlands and Plato's Closet. They each bought a candle with a picture of them all on the front for some strange reason but at least it will make my daughter's room smell a whole lot better. Once we dropped the girls off, I instituted a 1-hour silence rule so I could regain my hearing and give my car speakers a break. All in all, she had a great time and said thank you over and over. Too bad I couldn't hear her when she said it.

That is it for this week's episode. Stay tuned next week when the Principal Chronicles continues.
