Welcome to Cherokee Trail's Library! I am beginning my 13th year as the Teacher Librarian at CTE. Our focus this year is on the Joy of Reading and creating life-long readers. Students will be welcomed back to a refreshed and updated space this fall. Our Soaring Stallions Early Reader books have been organized in clear bins, making it easier for our students to find the books in which they are interested. We have also updated and expanded this section to include more books for our K-2 students. Our Graphic Novel section continues to expand and we have added more browsing bins for those titles. Our Kindergarten students received new Library Book Bags thanks to a generous grant from our PSP.
Last year, 148 students earned free books from our Book Vending Machine! We checked out 23,321 books to students and staff and taught 745 classes. 4th Grade checked out the most books at 3,095. 3rd Grade checked out 2,478 books. We added 586 books to our library collection.
We are proud to share that our Library Collection is rated at the Exemplary Level. This means that our collection of books has an average age of 7 years or newer and 16 or more books per student. In the Spring of 2024, our CTE Library was the only school in the District to achieve this rating.
